Jesse Brown Update

Jesse Brown (6'3", 190), a 1990-born forward from nearby Cortland, New York, recently spoke with The Scouting News about his season and future plans. Brown is currently playing with the Syracuse Stars (Eastern Junior Hockey League), where he is a teammate of Jeremy Morin (whom was updated here earlier this month). Only 16, Brown has played in 6 games for the Stars and has scored 5 goals and added 3 assists thus far. This past summer, Brown played on the Central NY team in the Empire Games where he led his team to the Bronze Medal, while having a 7-2-9 line in 5 games. Brown, additionally, played in the Select 16 Festival over the summer where he led his Green team in goals scored. The U.S. Hockey Report wrote of Brown's Select performance that he has "a lot of potential, but [he's] inconsistent." USHR also speculated that he may head to the Ontario Hockey League, where his rights are held by Owen Sound who drafted him in the 8th round. Thus far Brown has resisted the OHL's overture and currently says he's looking at the following schools: Cornell, Clarkson, Colgate, and Harvard.
