USHR has reported that Ryan Bliss (6' 2", 192), a 1996-born defenseman from Bedford, NH, has committed to Cornell for 2014. As a freshman at St. Paul's School last year Ryan played in 24 games and scored a goal and had two assists.
After the Beantown Summer Classic, USHR considered Ryan one of the top 4 blueliners at the event, mentioning early interest from Cornell and Yale. After visiting BU last week, Ryan selected the Big Red over Vermont.
Welcome to Cornell, Ryan.

so even the ivies can now get "commitments" from sophomores. A necessary evil I suppose, but I don't think it's so great for the kids to make such early committments.
It's certainly part of the process now. Yale has a 96 and a couple of 95s; Harvard has a 95 as well.
Ryan is the son of Kelly(Clark)Bliss '89, who is the daughter Preston Clark,'63. Ryan committed early because he felt nothing would change his mind about going to Cornell and it puts a stop to the recruiting frenzy.
Thanks, JT. I had heard there was a connection but didn't know the particulars.
