Striking Oil

Chris Heisenberg is reporting that Cornell has picked up a commitment from Rodger Craig (6' 4", 210), a 1991-born forward from Red Deer, Alberta, for the 2010 season. Rodger is currently playing with the Okotoks Oilers (Alberta JHL), where as the youngest player on the Oilers' roster he's scored 7 goals and picked up 8 assists in 40 games. Rodger participated in this year's CJAHL Prospects' game, where he scored a goal in Team West's 6-3 loss to Team East. Rodger is a B-ranked player on the NHL's Central Scouting preliminary draft list, meaning he could find himself drafted in the middle rounds in 2009. Rodger is also the cousin of current Big Red women's player, Amanda Young.

Here's a terrific article about Rodger's recent visit to Cornell: AJHL Prospect Flying High.

Welcome to the Big Red, Rodger.
