Friday Recap

Cushing kicked off their Lawrence/Groton tournament play with two games on Friday. In the early game, the Penguins blanked The Hill School, 3-0. Sean Whitney picked up an assist on Cushing's third goal. Cushing fell to Lawrence, 3-1, in the evening. Sean went pointless in the later game.

Cushing continues tournament play on Saturday against Culver.

In Ontario, St. Michael's eased past North York, 8-3. Erik Axell had an assist on the evening, while Nick D'Agostino went scoreless for the Buzzers.

St. Mike's visits Durham on Saturday.

Stouffville continued their hot play with a 10-7 win over Villanova. Jarred Seymour did not register a point for the Spirit.

Stouffville will play at Newmarket on Sunday.

In USHL play, Cedar Rapids and Omaha were winners. The RoughRiders defeated Green Bay, 4-1, and the Lancers wore out Ohio, 5-2. Vince Mihalek did not play for Cedar Rapids, and Keir Ross went scoreless for Omaha. Des Moines fell to their host, Tri-City, 4-2. Locke Jillson's goal gave the Buccaneers a 1-0 lead in the first period.

On Saturday, Cedar Rapids travels to Sioux Falls, while Des Moines is home against Green Bay, and Omaha is home against Ohio.

In the BCHL, Nanaimo had their way with Quesnel, defeating the Millionaires, 7-0. Michael Garman picked up his second shutout of the season in the win.

The Clippers play on Friday against Victoria.

Alberni dropped a 5-4 decision against Victoria in Port Alberni. Chris Moulsonhad an assist in the Bulldogs' loss.

Alberni goes into their holiday break and next plays in two weeks when they visit Cowichan Valley.

Note: Braden Birch is reportedly in Ontario recovering from an injury.
