Saturday Action

Cushing Academy kicked off their season with a 1-1 tie against Northwood Prep. Sean Whitney went scoreless for the Penguins.

For anyone in Southern California for Thanksgiving, Cushing will be participating in the 17th Annual Turkey Shoot at Lakewood's Glacial Gardens Skating Arena. The Penguins will play at least 4 games against Midget AAA teams. On Thursday they play the LA Selects; on Friday they play a doubleheader against the Southwest Selects and the DYHA Firebirds; and they finish up against the LA Hockey Club on Saturday. There is also a championship game on Sunday.

Binghamton dropped a 4-3 decision to the Northern Cyclones. Kevin Cole picked up an assist for the Junior Senators.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday.

Omaha and Des Moines were both involved in shootouts on Saturday. Omaha defeated Chicago, 3-2, with Keir Ross getting an assist for the Lancers. Des Moines came out on the short end of their game, losing to Waterloo, 2-1. Locke Jillson went scoreless in the game, though he was the only Buccaneer to score during the shootout.

Cedar Rapids defeated Tri-City, 2-1. Vince Mihalek went scoreless for Cedar Rapids.

Omaha will travel to Sioux Falls on Wednesday; while on Thursday, Cedar Rapids travels to Waterloo and Des Moines heads to Sioux City.

Alberni Valley also dropped a 2-1 game, losing to Surrey. Chris Moulson had an assist on the Bulldogs' only goal.

Alberni will host Victoria on Tuesday.
