Friday's Other Action

The big game in the USHL was in Cedar Rapids, where the East Division leading RoughRiders met the West Division leading Omaha Lancers. Omaha won the tightly-contested game, 4-2, needing 2 goals in the game's final 75 seconds to put Cedar Rapids away. Keir Ross and Vince Mihalek were both held scoreless in the game. In other action, Locke Jillson was held scoreless as Des Moines fell to Green Bay, 3-1.

On Saturday, Cedar Rapids will host Ohio, Des Moines will be at home against Lincoln, and Omaha will entertain Green Bay.

Out in British Columbia, Alberni Valley was defeated by Powell River, 6-2. Chris Moulson was held without a point for the Bulldogs, who visit Surrey on Saturday. Nanaimo, meanwhile, dropped a 5-4 decision to Cowichan Valley in overtime. Michael Garman took the tough loss for the Bulldogs, stopping 22 shots on the evening, while losing to the Capitals for the first time in 4 games this season. Braden Birch did not play for Nanaimo, who take to the road for their return game against Cowichan in Duncan on Saturday.
