Friday Update

St. Mike's defeated second-place Vaughan, 5-2, to stretch their OPJHL South Division lead to seven points. The Vipers scored the first two goals before the Buzzers went on their five goal run. Nick D'Agostino picked up an assist for St. Mike's, while Erik Axell did not play.

St. Mike's will visit the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Sunday.

In the USHL, Locke Jillson scored a goal for Des Moines, but the Bucs fell to Indiana, 6-3. Cedar Rapids and Omaha both picked up wins, though Vince Mihalek and Keir Ross were each held scoreless. The RoughRiders defeated Ohio, 4-3, and the Lancers squeaked by Chicago, 2-1.

On Saturday, Des Moines will host Waterloo; Cedar Rapids is home against Tri-City; and Omaha will visit Chicago.

Out west, Nanaimo beat Vernon, 4-3, in overtime. Michael Garman picked up his tenth win of the season and stopped the Vipers 28 times. Braden Birch did not play as he continued to nurse an injury.

The Clippers will be home against Surrey on Sunday.
