Big Red Spirit

Just returned from a long drive back from NYC. Plugged in the computer and read on elynah that Cornell has picked up a commitment from another defenseman, Jarred Seymour (6' 3", 195). Jarred is a 1990-born Australian, who currently lives in Toronto and plays for the Stouffville Spirit (OPJHL). Jarred was picked by Ottawa in the 3rd-round of the OHL draft, and is also a member of the Australian National Under-18 team.

According to McKeen's Hockey, Jarred posses decent speed, is technically sound, and has an impressive wingspan, which makes him very difficult to beat. McKeen's also says Jarred plays well against smaller forwards, is willing, and able, to do the necessary dirty work of a blueliner: mainly block shots and clog up passing lanes.

In 20 games with Stouffville, Jarred has scored one goal and added 4 assists, to go along with 22 penalty minutes.

Note: It's assumed that Jarred will be joining the Cornell in 2009 or 2010.

Welcome to the Big Red, Jarred
