Big Red Buzz

St. Michael's has announced that two members of its team have committed to Cornell for 2009. Erik Axell (6'3", 197), a 1990-born forward from Toronto, ON, and Nick D'Agostino (6'3", 192), a 1990-born defenseman from Bolton, ON, both committed this weekend.

Erik has scored one goal and added 4 assists in 12 games for the Buzzers, in what is his first Junior A season. Erik is developing into a prototypical power forward. McKeen's Hockey describes Erik as being able to play through traffic and assert himself in front of the net. Erik's also described as a good skater who needs to continue developing his offensive skills. Erik was selected in the 8th-round by Guelph in the 2006 OHL draft

Nick is also playing his rookie season in the Junior A ranks. In 12 games, Nick has scored a goal and picked up an assist for St. Mike's.

St. Mike's is currently in 2nd-place in the OPJHL's South Division, with an 11-2 record.

Welcome to the Big Red, Erik and Nick.
