Clippers Outlast Express

In what had been a closely contested series, Nanaimo found itself in an unfamiliar position heading into the third period of game seven with a 5-1 lead over Burnaby. Early in the third, however, the Express lived up to their name when they scored three times in less than two minutes to make for what must have been an entertaining final stanza. Fortunately, for Cornell fans, the Clippers survived and moved onto to Conference finals against Cowichan Valley.

In the final three games of the series, Mike Devin picked up an assist in game seven, while Joe Devin went scoreless during that span. Michael Garman was in goal for each game, picking up 2 wins and stopping 46 of the 55 shots he saw from the talented Burnaby team -- which featured three of the top 4 scorers in the playoffs: Kyle Turris (Wisconsin), Tyler McNeely (Northeastern), and Jovan Matic. Of course, things won't get much easier for the Clippers as the only non-Express player among the top-4 playoff scorers is Clinton Pettapiece of Cowichan Valley.

The series begins tonight in Nanaimo.
