Starting to look ahead...

As the new year begins it's time to take a peak down the road to see what 2007 may bring the Big Red in terms of new players. Cornell currently has 7 Juniors who will be leaving after the 06-07 season. Additionally, the Big Red will graduate 6 players this year. Thus far, Coach Schafer has 6 players lined up for next year and that figure probably will grow by 1-3. To date, however, Cornell doesn't have anyone committed to its (incoming) class of 2007. There are 27 programs that have commitments for 2007 already:

4 players committed:
Denver
Michingan
New Hampshire

3 players committed:
Boston College
Alaska, Fairbanks
Ferris State
Miami
Notre Dame

2 players committed:
Boston University
Providence
Michigan State
Nebraska-Omaha
Ohio State
Michigan Tech
Wisconsin

1 player committed:
Brown
Dartmouth
Princeton
Yale
Bowling Green
Alaska, Anchorage
Colorado College
Minnesota, Duluth
Minnesota State
North Dakota
St. Cloud State
Bemidji State

There are even some schools that have commitments for the class of 2008 & 2009:

2008: Michigan leads the way with 3 players, while Bowling Green, Ohio State, Colorado College, and Michigan Tech each have one player commited.

2009: Wisconsin and Nebraska-Omaha each have one player committed.

Later this week I'll take a look at some players that may be of interest to Cornell.

IIRC, Thiessen has been mentioned on eLynah as having pared his decision down to Cornell or North Dakota.

Hi Greg,

I'm still a bit baffled by Thiessen's decision. He could have gone either way...but for the allure of Northeastern.
